Sustainability at The Tootal Buildings has reached a new green milestone with our complete solar panel installation.
In-line with our commitment to reaching net zero carbon in operation, we have now completed the next step in our journey with the installation of 228 highly efficient solar PV modules on the roofs of The Tootal Buildings.
We are now generating on-site energy through the 93 kWp system that will deliver 74 MWh of electricity on an annual basis. It offsets 20% of the annual common area consumption and will save around 15 tons of carbon, which is equivalent to planting 643 trees each year.
In addition to this, by the end of 2024, the buildings will have completely removed any reliance on fossil fuels for heating or cooling. This is a tremendous achievement for these historic buildings and another step forward in their journey being a best in class, sustainable workspace.
Stephen Wormald, partner at XLB comments; “Generating on site renewable energy is a significant step forward in reducing energy
use intensity and aligns with our net zero pathway for the building. Removal reliance on fossil fuels by the end of 2024 will be the next step in the greening of the buildings and delivering tangible reductions in carbon.”
